Story

Part 1: Introduce Tilly and Her Toys
Once upon a time, not so far from a calm, shining pond, there lived a little turtle named Tilly. Tilly lived in as cozy a nest as any turtle shell might be. There was a warm, sandy place for her to nap and soft, grassy patches everywhere.
What made Tilly’s home extra special was her grand collection of toys! Colorful balls, bouncy and bright, were scattered all around. Small rows of soft teddy bears sat awaiting playtime as small truck toys and little wooden animals sat in line upon a bed.

Tilly, the little turtle, was a chipper fellow, humming at herself during her playtime fun, but one fact and legend everybody knows about Tilly is that she never takes a loan. She treated every single one of those toys differently; she felt like it all belonged only to her.
Tilly would really love playing by herself as much as possible – be that she might love just arranging the rest of the toys or even hugging her teddy bears under her small turtle arms.
When some other friend stopped by to request some of the same players in their game, Tilly pulled her toys to herself and declared with excitement, “These are my toys, and I want to play all these things all to myself!”
Although her friends would often stare on through the window, hoping to get a chance to play with the bright fun of the toys, Tilly remained persistent. “No, these are mine,” she’d say, frowning slightly.
And so, day after day, Tilly played alone, surrounded by all her favorite things, happy to have all the toys for herself. She had no idea things were about to change.
Part 2: Tilly’s Friends and Their Wish One sunny afternoon,
Tilly’s friends would assemble near the pond, watching enough to be entertained but well enough back not to frighten her. Among her friends was Benny the Bunny, whose floppy ears hung loose as he hopped around; Gigi the Giraffe, whose very long neck had to bow low in order for her to play; and gentle Leo the Lamb, with soft wool and fleece just as fluffy as clouds.
They were the best of friends and loved playing together, but unlike Tilly, they did not have many toys.

Instead, they survived with sticks, pebbles, and whatever they could find around the pond.
Her friends couldn’t help feeling a little jealous as Tilly played.
Tilly’s playthings were so colorful and fun! Finally, Benny took a bold hop forward, twitching his little nose. “Hey, Tilly,” he asked, “can we play with your toys for a little while?”
Gigi stretched out her neck, adding, “Just a little bit, Tilly! We’ll be gentle, I promise.”
Even the most tacit of them, Leo nodded and said, “We’ll take good care of them. Looks like a lot of fun!”
Tilly looked around at the other friends and then down to her toys. She loved those toys too much, so the idea that others could play with them scared Tilly. So she just hugged her teddy more tightly, shook her head, and replied, “No, these are my toys.”
Benny’s ears drooped, Gigi’s long neck lowered, and Leo let out a small sigh. They all turned around, disappointed, and walked back to their pebbles and sticks, catching only one glimpse before forcing themselves to have fun on their own.
As Tilly watched her friends play alone, a small, strange twinge arose inside of her. She did not know what it was, but it rather made her feel. A little uneasy. And she shrugged and went back to arranging her toys; she had no idea that an amazing adventure was about to begin.
Part 3: The Big Toy Tangle
The following morning, Tilly woke up feeling prepared to venture out for another playtime adventure with her favorite toys. She approached her cozy corner near the pond to find them once more set up in that neat fashion which she had left them. Instead, she saw the toys all tangled together in a large, big, messy bundle.
Her favorite bouncy ball was wedged between two teddy bears, a toy truck was overturned in a pile of wooden animals, and at the bottom of the pile, her softest teddy, Tilly’s little turtle heart sank. How did it come to this? She had no memory of putting them like this!
Having set her jaw, Tilly started to pull on the toys. First, she began pulling on one of the teddy bears to move toward the wooden animals that came rolling out with them as the ball that the toys were rolling with found itself in a jumble in the middle.
Then, in an attempt to force the toy truck forward, which had been pushed under the animals, it protruded under better. No matter the tugs or pushes on Tilly’s part, nothing seemed to be working; she couldn’t identify anything wrong.
The knots with toys were too stubborn and intertwined too much, and Tilly had herself become more irritated with each attempt she made with the toys.
And as she sat back, catching her breath, came a new idea to mind. “Maybe… maybe if my friends helped me, we could untangle these toys together,” she thought. Her eyes drifted over to where Benny, Gigi, and Leo were playing nearby, their pebbles and sticks discarded.
Tilly hesitated; her heartbeat got a little faster. She loved toys so much; it was weird and really hard to share them. Maybe her friends could help her get out of the mess, and who knows, it could be fun.
Part 4: Learning to Share
Tilly took a deep breath and tried to summon some remaining strength. She glanced at her friends and called out, “Benny, Gigi, Leo… come here for a minute, guys?”
And her friends sprang up in astonishment.
“Do you… do you mind helping me sort my toys? They’re really a big mess and I have to do it all myself,” Tilly asked in embarrassment.
Benny’s eyes shone bright with excitement as he did an insignificant little cheerful hop. “Of course, Tilly! We’d love to help!” he exclaimed triumphantly.
Gigi nodded enthusiastically. “This is going to be fun! I can reach in with my long neck,” she said as she leaned forward to grab a teddy bear from the pile.
Leo, the quiet of all of them, smiled warmly at Tilly. “Thanks for asking us over,” he said softly, gently tugging a ball free of the snarl.
They all got started working together. Benny will take out one ball, Gigi will carefully lift the stuffed animals, and Leo will push the trucks and wooden toys aside. The toys came loose, bit by bit, and before she knew it, the whole pile was sorted out. Tilly couldn’t believe how quickly they had fixed the mess, thanks to her friends!
Once all the tangles were worked out of the hair, Benny gave Tilly a toothy grin. “Can we play together now?” he asked.
Tilly took a nanosecond before bringing her head forward. “Yeah… I wanna play!”
That afternoon, she spent frolicking over the laugh, bouncing balls to each other, building tiny animal towers, and taking turns cuddling Tilly’s softest teddy. As Tilly watched her friends giggle and smile, something new and wonderful stirred within her. Not only was it okay to share her toys, but it was also fun! She was having even more fun than she ever had playing alone, and it warmed her heart to see her friends so happy.
Giving up the toys was a gain for Tilly because it made her playtime with others and herself better.
Part 5: Tilly’s Discovery
The sun had set low behind the trees and chucked gold down to the pond where Tilly took in a survey of her gathered friends. Benny was bouncing the ball with Gigi, who stretched as high as she could go to catch it. Leo rolled his toy truck across the pavement, back and forth, happy as a clam. And Tilly? She, too, smiled: the little turtle’s heart full over with joy.
It is only by doing so that she came to learn the special sweetness of her playthings, which was no longer theirs by right of simple ownership over hers but from an infinitely more profound source: they can bring great joy to many. Warming up inside and glowing with pride at seeing those friends enjoy and take pleasure, she began to indulge in a sort of fun that was beyond what mere playing alone was capable of.
She felt a bit silly for the first time ever, considering she kept all the toys to herself, thought Tilly. She remembered all the times she did just that. For sure, the sharing will make the game better indeed, said herself with a wide grin across her face.
When some friends are leaving to go home, Tilly waves toward them as she is saying goodbye, “See you tomorrow! Play with toys with us once again!”
The friends shouted and said they would be back. Tilly smiled as the friends packed up and left. At that very moment, she knew it had been an excellent decision. On that day, she learned that the toys are much better when shared.
Who is the hero of the story?
Tilly the Turtle is a heroine. Initially hesitant to play with her toy friends, she understands what it is to be a friend and behaves kindly. Becoming a heroine is when she learns to share and finds that making playtime happier for all shows courage and growth in her character.
Moral:
“Sharing makes playing more fun.”
Conclusion and Goodbye
As the sun set, Tilly and her friends frolicked and gathered their playthings. She giggled over how much she was having a good time with them today. Benny, Leo, and Gigi couldn’t stop grinning; neither did Tilly. She found it marvelous to share, and that made play bright and merry for all of her friends.
“Let’s come here every day,’ Tilly exclaimed, so excited, ‘and play.’
They cheered and clapped in paws, hooves, and fluffy tails for Tilly. “Yay, Tilly!” they shouted back. “We can’t wait!”
Tilly turned to look at her friends. Warmth filled her chest. “And I promise I will always share my toys,” she declared triumphantly, knowing this was one thing in life that she wanted forever.
Tilly stayed by the pond for just a moment, watching them go down the path. Friends were waving and saying their goodbyes and heading home. Tilly waved one last time, feeling proud and happy. She had learned something wonderful and couldn’t wait for more shared playtimes filled with laughter and friendship.
With a happy sigh, Tilly turned and slowly walked back to her cozy home, ready for tomorrow’s adventure with friends by her side and toys to share.
